Extrugasa is embarking on a path of growth and transformation of the industrial infrastructure, with sustainable actions that seek to reduce the carbon footprint by reducing the CO2 emissions generated by the company.
This transformation revolves around a Circular Economy model and measures adapted to the production processes and the raw material with which we manufacture aluminium solutions.
All our processes are guaranteed and certified under the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
With 30,000 m2 of solar panels
Our photovoltaic self-consumption installation is 2.2 MW, making it one of the largest installations in the country.
- Generate 25% of the company's energy demand.
- We avoided the emission of 932 tons/year of CO2 into the atmosphere, equivalent to planting 93,000 trees in the region.
- Vision of the future: to generate an energy storage system that increases the percentage of renewable energy consumption.
Treating industrial wastewater with the WWTP
To manufacture our aluminum profiles, we need to consume a large amount of water. For this reason, we have a Wastewater Treatment Plant, more than 25 years old, renovated and modernized that allows us to deal with the treatment of all industrial wastewater resulting from our production processes.
- From these processes sludge derives, which we also take to external plants where they are treated, giving a second life of fertilizer use.
- We reuse 15% of the treated water for the closed water circuits of our production processes
- Once industrial wastewater has been cleaned and purified, it is used to irrigate our environment, obtaining a flora free of residues.
Recycling with the Foundry
In our foundry plant we have a horizontal casting for the recycling of aluminum scrap.
- Closing the Circle: Scrap → Raw Material → Production → Product
- Independence through self-consumption, avoiding the use of raw materials from the first melt.

- Lower the carbon footprint
- High production capacity, with an estimated production of 4,000 kg/hour, about 30,000 tons per year
- Allows you to melt raw aluminum scrap.
- It allows the manufacture of a homogeneous recycled aluminium billet with high quality standards.
- Aluminum recycling
- High energy efficiency, as it has a system of regenerative burners that leads to energy savings of 40% compared to others. These burners convert the gases from the melting process into energy that will then be used in other phases of the process.
- It complies with European emission regulations, as it emits particles below 5 ppm.
